Musician in Zwolle, Netherlands

Violinist Skye Kinlaw is currently a Master's candidate at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle, Netherlands, where she studies with Sarah Kapustin. She recently earned a Performer Diploma in Solo Performance and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington, studying with Mark Kaplan and Mimi Zweig. Skye began her violin studies when she was 3 years old, in her hometown of Orlando, Florida, US.

Skye’s classical background has given her the opportunity to perform solo at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York and as a member of the Peabody Preparatory's Pre-Conservatory Violin Program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Her love for ensemble playing took hold in her university studies, where she was fortunately able to participate in several opera, ballet, film orchestra and symphonic projects, as well as receive intensive chamber music study and coaching with members of the Pacifica and Rubens Quartets. In summer 2016, Skye participated in the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, a part of the New York Philharmonic's Biennial at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY. July 2017 took her to Valdeblore, France, to attend the Zodiac Music Academy and Festival, which involved performancesa in both the Valdeblore region and in Nice.

Recently Skye has also been trying her hand at a special interest of hers, interdisciplinary curation of artistic performances. She recently completed a certificate in Curatorial Practices in Music alongside her Master of Music at ArtEZ, during which her research project was exploring the intersection between ecology and classical music.

As of May 2016, Skye is also a certified ELDOA I instructor; more information about this osteopathic therapy can be found here:

Skye is a passionate advocate for music of the modern age. Her musical interests extend outside the classical realm as well, including Norwegian hardingfele, Scottish fiddle, and Cuban danzón. As of October 2018, she has been a violinist in the Berlin-based melodic metal band for Moran Magal.

Her final Master's recital can be seen here:

Outside of music, she enjoys hiking, writing, reading, and salsa dancing.

Skye currently splits her time between Berlin and the Netherlands.
